Ladies Matter 9

Sri has a question...

"While menstrual cramps and childbirth pains are inevitable (okay, there may be some choice with the latter), why do so many women choose to endure avoidable pain on a daily basis by wearing high heels?"

Why do women wear short skirts in cold weather? "To look good", I suppose.

Now, I can't walk with a regular shoe and not get my ankle sprained (:)), so I never wear high heels. But, have always wondered and come to this conclusion. Would be happy to hear from high-heelers.

Ummm.... to look good! I do not wear high heels but would love to wear them if I can carry them off well without falling!!!!It is not to look good for the "men" but sometimes dressing up makes you feel good! It is similar to tweezing your brows or getting a tattoo or piercing your ears! Painful yet desired!

because it gives me what my Masters degree, my family or my fat paycheck won't give me - a higher self-esteem. :)

I think it feels good to look down at someone than look up.....
Now, I wish I could wear one and carry it off gracefully instead of having embarrassing episodes in front of zillions..

I wore high heels (wincingly) in college when I still was making some attempts to look cool.
Now: I wear ratty (but oh so comfortable) sneakers everywhere and all the time because I care much more about comfort than about looking good :D
My mother wears high heels all the time, though, and it is because without them, she cannot reach the brake pedals in her car. She is very petite!

I dont - but then I dont need to wear heels, I'm 5'8" tall. I doubt I'd wear heels no matter what my height, though. Comfort above all!

One study has shown that high heels may actually be good for you! http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/7225828.stm

And it is true that many men find them sexier. But are really high shoes worth the pain for the sake of pleasing a man? That is an individual choice.

My take is that a woman will do anything that'll make her look and feel more feminine in a good way. High heels. Piercings. Waxing. Boob jobs. Tattoos. Corsets back in the day. Jap women wrapping their feet so they remain small. All of these seem awfully painful to me.

I tried to think what makes high heels sexy ... To my corrugated brain, it finally dawned! I think it is because it looks like we will fall at any moment, that provokes the chivalry (!!!) in them. I think a gap it gives to give for sudden intimacy and a route to further ... :) ...

Do I sound crazy?

I was so gleefully happy to read so many people talking about their inability to walk with a high heel :) Thank God I am not that abnormal. I have been to South American dinner night (where they dance all night!!!) in sneakers, that is braver than tattoo in those lands!!! :) ...

Hey sneakers girls you are very brave.
yours,

What hypocrisy!!! High heels make you look good, lifts your butt up and makes those short hirsute chicken legs look gaunt and shapely.
And if you are used to them, they dont pain anymore... i could sprint in my high heels, and you know what... they are awesome for self-defence!!
