A~ wants to know...
"I know of at least 3-4 languages in which the word for female genitalia is used as a swear word. How come no one ever uses 'penis' to tell someone off?"
and...
"Why is childcare a woman's issue alone? How come men never get asked or judged on whom they leave their kids with? Or how often they stay away from home/children?"

Hulloa!! A~ clearly doesn't know any swear words. Prick. Dick. Dickhead. Dickwart. Balls. Bollocks. Even in the vernacular, there are plenty of swear words about male genitalia.
For the second question... Law of attraction, ladies! You probably think too much about discrimination and see too much of discrimination and end up attracting all that discrimination into your lives. Lighten up.
On a positive note, I see changes happening. The other day, a bachelor male friend of mine was talking to me about a discomfort in talking about something to his married with children male friends from childhood.
He said, "I want to tell them, leave your kid for three hours to your neighbor and go on a date together with your wife,... I know they want it, a happy dinner, walk along the river ... But I am afraid to say it. May be it will be found inappropriate." I was surprised. I told him, just say it. He hasnt! :)
There was a day, when I mentioned that the friend's wife has to be treated with a vacation in Himalayas and prompt came her reply "only if you take me without my children, I will have a true vacation" - I felt very good :). She is a great mother, indeed. One four year old and another barely one year. But I was happy that we are today having a life where we can express this. I was happy.
Attitude is changing! :)
Life will change too soon.
Yes, the truth is still that she didnt have a vacation alone. :) Atleast she said it.
I was going to say exactly what jax did :)
yeah seriously ....
good point and coming to think of it, its not only the genitalia but almost every swearword is derived from deriding the female.
How about Balls?
You're looking at the formal words. Words like penis and vagina are formal. The colloquial words for penis are very much widely used to insult someone. :-B
For the second question...it is still the man's responibility in majority of the families to provide financial stability for the family. Though this is somewhat changing, it is still the norm for men to work outside the home and women to work in the home.
When it is widely accepted for the dad to stay home and take care of the family and the mom goes to work to put food on the table... this question will go away. As women are we ready to shoulder that big responsibility...
